Charming landscape at the northern edge of the Swabian Alb
Engstingen with the districts Großengstingen, Kleinengstingen and Kohlstetten is situated between Reutlingen and Zwiefalten. It lies 700 m above sea level and has 5,228 inhabitants. Not to believe what was driving on our streets 50 years ago. The Car-museum in Engstingen offers a time journey between 1945 and 1959. The visitors will experience 150 post-war veterans which might awake some memories. Due to the favorable transport connections and a high-quality municipal infrastructure, Engstingen is an attractive living location with an economic expansion.
Engstingen offers interesting things such as buildings from 1938 built from calc- tufa and which are still unchanged. The baroque Catholic church St. Martin in the district of Großengstingen, built in 1719 by Franz Beer is also worth a visit. In Engstingen is the Kohlstetter Peace tree, which was planted in the spring of 1871 due to the end of the Franco-German War of 1870-71. It was declared as a natural monument in 1940 due to the nature conservation law of nature and landscape. Active holidaymakers will find quiet and refreshing hiking trails, ski lifts and cross-country ski runs.
