In the middle of the biosphere region Swabian Alb you will find traditions and traditional costumes. The town of Pfullingen is located at the foot of the Swabian Alb near the water-rich Echaz which is an ideal starting point for hiking tours and excursions. Pfullingen was already documented as early as 937 and was Oberamtsstadt from 1699 onwards. The most famous son is St. Wolfgang, who was born here around 924. An award-winning interior renovation has been carried out since the 1970s: re-design of the market square with a pedestrian zone, the creation of a green train along the river Echaz, a walking and cycling route, numerous historic buildings. Restaurants and gastronomes with delicious, local food.
The museum in Pfullingen in the Schlösslespark consist of the City history museum, the Millmuseum and the Württembergisches traditional costume museum. Since 2012 it is also the information center of the biosphere region.
The Monastery of Pfullingen was built around 1300 which was a former church of the Pfullinger Pomeranian Convent. When visiting the monastery you can find beautiful and original wall paintings. Till the reformation it was used as a warehouse and in 1981 a renovation took place by the city, since then the monastery serves for cultural purposes. In the former washhouse of the monastery church, the history of the Pfullinger Poor Poverty is presented in a multimedial exhibition. The opening hours of all exhibitions and museums from the Maimarkt to the Kirbemarkt are in October on Sundays and public holidays From 2 pm to 5 pm.
In Pfullingen is also a nice caravan site that has eight pitches which are under large, shady trees. There is also a supply station for fresh water, sewage and electricity (by coin-operated machine). The sse of the pitch is free of charge and for a maximum stay of 3 days. The Schönbergbad a nice and refreshing outdoor swimming pool has an expanded diving area, a non-swimmer pool with wide wave slide, a water mushroom and neck and massage showers. It also offers a playground area for toddlers and a beach volleyball field, ping pong tables, midget golf and a large meadow area to relax.There are also many gastronomies which offer delicious food when you get hungy after all the activities.
